Research Interest

  • Modeling of chemical engineering processes.
  • Chemical reaction engineering of complex systems with particular focus on pyrolysis, partial oxidation and combustion modeling of hydrocarbons. Ignition delay times, at low and high temperatures, flame velocity, hydrocarbon oxidation pathologies (negative temperature coefficient regions, cool flames, multistage ignitions) with attention to the reaction pathways. Pollutant formation (NOx, PAH and soot) from combustion processes.
  • Modeling of, volatilization and gasification and combustion of solids, with reference to plastics, coal and biomasses.
  • Numerical fluidynamics of reactive flows with attention to turbulence/kinetics interactions.
  • Application fields: stationary combustion (burners, boilers and furnaces); automotive and aeronautical engines (diesel, traditional and innovative spark ignited engines, gas-turbines).
